Media outlet Common Dreams reported on a recent white paper study from the Stop Financing Factory Farming (S3F) coalition, revealing that the Green Climate Fund and 11 multilateral development banks invested over $2.27 billion in factory farming in 2023. The World Bank was the largest contributor, with nearly $750 million in funding. The report criticizes these investments for undermining climate goals, as factory farming significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss. The report calls on World Bank President Ajay Banja to phase out these harmful investments and shift their support to regenerative and agroecological farming.
