We urged IFC not to support the expansion of Brazilian dairy giant Alvoar Lacteos.
The bank must undertake a more thorough analysis of the potential adverse environmental and social (E&S) impacts of this loan, and other similar loans in future, and ensure appropriate stakeholder consultation.
Our research and review of the IFC’s proposed Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) and Mitigation Measures indicates that there are diverse, and potentially permanent, risks and impacts within Alvoar Lacteos’ supply chain, including in relation to indigenous rights and animal welfare.
