This letter sent to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) expresses concerns about a proposed loan to Maziwa / Pearl Dairy, Ugandan dairy processor.
Campaign members concerns about the company’s supply chain and workforce management, and environmental and animal welfare impacts of the proposed project:
- Employment practices and labour issues
- Lack of adequate stakeholder consultation
- Animal welfare and diversity of cattle breeds
- Biodiversity and habitat conversion
- Limited local benefit due to export-orientation
